Real Vision Software first to choose Symmetry's new cloud service to power its own cloud document management solution.

Symmetry Corp. announced at COMMON that Real Vision Software, the Louisiana-based provider of document imaging solutions, has selected Symmetry's new IBM i-based cloud to power its new cloud software. At the same time, Symmetry announced it was launching i IN THE SKY, an enterprise-level IBM i-based cloud solution for software as a service (SaaS) vendors and organizations running business applications and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, including those customers running SAP on IBM i.

“Symmetry’s IBM i cloud was the obvious choice to power our ‘Cloud’ document management solution to keep it cost effective and easy to implement,” said David Woodring, vice president, Real Vision Software. “The security, stability, and performance of the IT engine driving any SaaS solution is critical to the delivery of services. The winning combination of enterprise-level architecture and expert technical support from i IN THE SKY ensures that our customers have the best possible experience while our teams focus on their core area of expertise–the software,” said Woodring.

i IN THE SKY provides enterprise-level cloud hosting and cloud-based disaster recovery solutions for organizations utilizing the IBM Power Systems platform. By leveraging the inherent scalability and flexibility of an IBM i-based cloud, organizations can improve agility and responsiveness to changing business situations. Organizations also can take advantage of reductions in total cost of operations as data center costs switch from capital expenditure and maintenance overheads to much lower monthly operating expenses.

“Every enterprise IT organization is looking to drive cost and complexity out of its operations. i IN THE SKY integrates Symmetry’s service and experience with state-of-the-art technology from IBM to deliver infrastructure savings exceeding 50 percent,” said Dan Wilhelms, president, Symmetry Corp.

Security, system performance, data availability and expert technical support are the key factors that differentiate i IN THE SKY as an enterprise-level cloud solution. Symmetry utilizes the advanced features of the IBM i, a mature, proven platform recognized for its stability, to architect cloud solutions that meet the stringent requirements of enterprise-level customers.

“Symmetry is excited to be teaming with IBM on this strategic initiative to develop an IBM i powered cloud,” said Wilhelms.

i IN THE SKY offers an affordable, turnkey entry point that allows customers new to ERP applications, such as SAP,  or the IBM i platform, to grow their IT operations while keeping costs manageable. Adoption of cloud computing is also on the rise among software as a service (SaaS) vendors where the easily scalable infrastructure of a cloud computing environment perfectly complements the SaaS delivery model.

“Symmetry is working towards attaining the IBM Cloud Computing Specialty, a new IBM Business Partner initiative, designed to develop the IT industry's broadest ecosystem of companies working together to provide a wide range of cloud computing services and technologies for clients of all sizes and industries.” IBM is pleased to support Symmetry on delivering the i IN THE SKY cloud solution for SAP customers on Power Systems and IBM i. said Dave Mitchell, director of Strategy and Emerging Business, ISV and Developer Relations, IBM Software Group.
